Ogden Piano Festival features student competitions, recitals, and masterclasses. The competition will take place in November of 2024.
Mission Statement: The Ogden Piano Festival is a non-profit organization that provides competition opportunities and multi-cultural performance events for young artists in Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. Our mission is to nurture the growth and development of musicians and inspire excellence in performance.
Ogden Piano Festival History Sean Steiner, Executive Director of the Ogden Piano Festival, comes with experience from his association with Dr. Danny Dong’s Utah International Youth Piano Competition (UIYPC) as an adjudicator (2016), in competition administration (2016-2017), and as Executive Director (2018). Guest competitors and judges from China participated each year.
After UIYPC’s hiatus in 2019-2020, brought on by the Trade War and the pandemic, Steiner chose a new direction to fulfill a directive given to him more than 30 years ago by arts supporter Carolyn Nebeker Rasmussen. Rasmussen’s wish was that when Steiner someday returned to Ogden, he might find a way to give back to the area. During 2021, Steiner and a talented team of colleagues have built a brand new competition and festival. Our first annual competition was held in 2022, and you can learn about our winners here:
In 2023 we held a Cultural Extravaganza, Concerto Concert, and competition categories.
Our next events include our 2024 competition taking place in November. Categories include Piano Solo, Piano Ensemble, Piano in Chamber Ensemble, Piano Concerto and Piano Concerto Novice categories.
As a non-profit organization we collaborate with Mountain Springs Music Festival, an organization that focuses on education and chamber music opportunities for groups of all ages. The Ogden Piano Festival provides competition opportunities and multi-cultural performance events for young artists in Ogden and surrounding areas.
